A Travel Demand Model is a tool used to predict how people will use the transportation system. The Permian Basin MPO will use the TDM to evaluate the ability of the existing transportation system to accommodate future growth in the region and to develop short and long range population forecasts that will be used in the regional transportation planning process. TDMs predict the number of vehicles using each roadway and from this other traffic-related measures can be derived, such as travel times, travel speeds, level of service and classes of vehicle using the road. Fact Sheet
The Delphi Panel, made up of participants who are familiar with the growth and transportation needs in the region, met for the first time on February 11, 2016. The purpose of the Permian Basin Delphi study is to gather information from knowledgeable area leaders to verfiy the reasonableness of regional population and employment control totals, obtain a thorough understanding of high and low growth areas, and identify areas with high and low growth potential.
